We gamers are always looking forward to sequels of our favorite games and for the right reasons. Everyone wants to have another dose of their favorite video games and well… game developers love making those sequels for us instead of sketching up a whole different game.

And just like any other year, 2022 is also filled with awesome sequels of some of the most popular gaming franchises of all time. And while there are a ton of them coming out, we are only going to look at the top 10 upcoming big franchise sequels.

1. God of War: Ragnarok

It’s a sad day for Pc gamers as this masterpiece will be hitting Ps4, and Ps5 only at least for now. Fimbulwinter is already here and the father-son duo must travel to all the nine realms to uncover the truth while all the gods of Asgard have already lined up for Ragnarok, the battle that will end the world. As Kratos and Atreus’s journey continues, God of War Ragnarock is going to be tenfold of its predecessor due to its even deeper world, the mythical beasts, and a great number of gods too.

2. Elder Scrolls 6

Elder Scrolls without any doubt remains one of the most popular games of all time and for very good reasons. This MMORPG has amassed millions of players from all around the world for its exceptional gameplay, great RPG mechanics, a rich economy system to let players buy eso gold and sell, and much more. And while we don’t have much to go on about the next entry to this popular series, Elder Scrolls 6 is coming and it’s going to be just epic!

3. Sonic Frontiers

Sonic the Hedgehog was the first game of the series released back in 1991 and almost all of us know about this cute little videogame Sega has been working on another game under the banner. This high-speed adventure now takes you to five ancient Starfall Islands in search of chaos emeralds. You will get to experience the thrill of high-velocity action and adventure in this beautiful new game, fighting against formidable foes trying to save the world. Sonic Frontiers is being released on 8th of November this year on all the major platforms.

4. Warzone 2

Call of Duty franchise has reigned over the First-person shooter genre alongside the Battlefield series and Warzone 2 has been finally unveiled which will be hitting the stores on November 16th. Warzone is one of the biggest battle royale games out there and the sequel is promised with so many upgrades in terms of new possibilities of combat making the gameplay even more immersive than it already was. With new vast maps and features like swimming, aquatic combat, and over a dozen new vehicles, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is all set to storm the gaming industry with high hopes.

5. GTA 6

We don’t even remember how long we have been waiting for this one, GTA 6 was officially announced in February 2022 and ever since then we have been stormed with leaks, videos, and what not. Very recently, the Rockstar games suffered a hack that resulted in the leak of early developmental footage of GTA 6 and the developers confirmed it too. We don’t really have more information like the city it’s going to be set in or the main characters of the game but we all can hope for something huge coming our way and it will all be worth the wait once it’s released. And while we wait for the new entry, we could spend all of our GTA 5 money to finally have a blast!

6. The Legend of Zelda: Tear of the Kingdom

One of the most popular open-world franchises is finally making its way back to the gaming market. I am talking about The Legend of Zelda and its upcoming entry called Tear of the Kingdom. It’s the direct follow-up of the popular Breath of the Wild. And while there’s not much to about at this time, it seems the sequel will be expanding upon some of the most popular features of the game.

7. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2

Senua’s Saga is popular for its dark and ritualistic theme that has helped the franchise amass millions of players from around the world. And it seems the developer Ninja Theory is planning to lean on these elements for the upcoming sequel of Hellblade. So we can expect to see more rituals and a much darker plot in the next entry to this series. There’s still no fixed release date for this game but hopefully, we will get one soon.

8. Kerbal Space Program 2

Kerbal Space Program might not be on top of your list but it still remains one of the most accurate simulation games to date. If you don’t already know, Kerbal Space Program has you discovering the vast universe using a variety of spacecraft as cute little Kerbal characters. The sequel seems to be introducing a plethora of new and improved content to the game including multiplayer mode, new customizations, a graphical overhaul, and more.

9. Alan Wake 2

Remedy’s Alan Wake is hands down one of the most anticipated sequels of all time. Announced back in 2021, the sequel has been under development for quite a while now, and apparently, Remedy has acquired full rights of the game, so we already know it’s going to be super special. And it seems the sequel will feature a different storyline with the same cast of characters.

10. Bayonetta 3

PlatinumGames’s hack-and-slash title Bayonetta is also making its way back to the gaming market. And by the looks of the recent trailer, the game seems to have made quite some changes to the combat system and overall gameplay of the game. But besides the changes, we will be experiencing the familiar thrill of combat in the game. Definitely one of the best sequels coming to the market.

Conclusion

There are always new sequels coming out to the market every once in a while and these I think are some of the most anticipated ones that will make their way to the gaming market in the near future. I am definitely excited to get my hands on some of these games as soon as they drop. Let me know what games are you most excited about? That’s all for this list, see you in the next one.
