Kaan’s Designs Journey Before Shark Tank
Kaan’s Designs was born from a deeply personal vision. After losing her mother at a young age, Ashley vowed to help families capture precious memories.
“She passed when I was just 21, and it left me with a deep desire to preserve family moments,” Ashley shared.
She started with $200 from her father and a prototype designed for her son, Aiden. Ashley partnered with Kenny to launch the brand from their garage.
“We started small, printing t-shirts with messages that reflected our family,” Kenny added, “and sold them on Instagram.”
By 2017, the business achieved significant milestones. It was featured on Positively Fort Wayne and entered Amazon, leading to a 300% increase in sales.
By 2020, their recognition skyrocketed. “We were one of the 72 gifts featured on Oprah’s Favorite Things List 2020,” Ashley recalled.
This achievement allowed them to expand operations, transitioning from their garage to a home warehouse with a small team of assistants.
Their product range grew over the years. It now includes toddler bags, mom bags, keychains, and themed apparel sets like “The Original, The Remix, The Encore, and The Mic Drop,” Kenny noted.
Today, their collections are available on their website, Amazon, and Etsy. These platforms ensure accessibility for families everywhere.
Over time, Kaan’s Designs achieved over $3.2 million in lifetime sales. “Our estimated sales for 2024 are $300,000, and our customer return rate is an impressive 30%,” Kenny proudly shared.
Shark Tank Pitch Recap
Ashley and Kenny Green’s heartfelt pitch struck a chord with the Sharks. They sought “$75,000 for 15% equity to help us expand our product line and reach new audiences,” Ashley explained.
Demonstrating their efficient business model, the couple revealed their minimal inventory approach. They used screen-printing on demand, which helped reduce overhead costs.
“Our production costs are $5.12 per adult t-shirt and $4.24 per kids’ t-shirt,” Kenny elaborated, “and we sell them for $26 and $21, respectively.”
The Sharks were impressed by their strong metrics. “Our customer acquisition cost is $9.37, and during peak seasons like Father’s Day, we achieve a five-fold return on ad spend (ROAS),” Kenny shared.
Despite these achievements, Kevin O’Leary, Lori Greiner, and Mark Cuban opted out. They cited concerns about scalability and potential growth challenges.
Todd Graves, however, saw potential in the brand. He offered “$75,000 as a loan for 10% equity,” a deal that valued the company at $750,000.
Daymond John joined as a mentor, providing branding guidance. “We’re thrilled to work with Todd and have Daymond’s expertise,” Ashley said excitedly.
Kaan’s Designs Shark Tank Update
Following their Shark Tank appearance, Kaan’s Designs experienced exponential growth. “The exposure from the show brought a huge increase in website traffic, social media engagement, and sales,” Kenny shared.
By 2024, the company’s net worth was estimated at $1.16 million. This growth reflects a steady 10% annual increase in sales. “Our products and our story have really connected with people,” Ashley noted. “We’re seeing that reflected in our growing customer base.”
Notably, Kaan’s Designs made Oprah’s Favorite Things list again in 2023. “It was such an incredible honor to be featured twice,” Ashley said. “This recognition reminds us why we keep going even during challenging times.”
Future Plans
Kaan’s Designs is now focused on scaling operations. They plan to enter offline retail markets and continue expanding their product line.
“We’re exploring collaborations with major retailers and want to create seasonal collections for holidays like Thanksgiving and Halloween,” Kenny revealed.
Their recent visit to the Fort Wayne Amazon Fulfillment Center highlights their commitment to streamlining logistics. This ensures they can meet growing demand efficiently.
“We’re excited about the opportunities ahead and remain dedicated to helping families preserve their memories,” Ashley emphasized.

Kaan’s Designs exemplifies how passion and purpose can fuel entrepreneurial success. “We started with a dream to help families create and capture moments, and today, we’re living that mission every day,” Ashley reflected.
From humble beginnings to national recognition, their journey is a testament to resilience and innovation.
