$16 million funding round for Gladia

Ukrainian investment fund Roosh Ventures, co-founded by Sergey Tokarev, has joined a $16 million funding round for Gladia, a Paris-based startup specializing in AI-powered transcription and audio analytics. Announcing the investment on LinkedIn, Tokarev described Gladia as a “game-changer” for businesses navigating the complexities of multilingual communication.

Founded in 2022 by Jean-Louis Quéguiner and Jonathan Soto, Gladia develops a universal audio infrastructure for real-time speech processing. Its platform enables seamless transcription and analysis of conversations in over 100 languages, even adapting to various accents in real time.

“Gladia is creating a robust solution for call centers and AI assistants, with a focus on real-time multilingual audio transcription and analytics,” said Sergey Tokarev. “This technology addresses major issues we’ve encountered with existing transcription tools, especially with non-English languages and diverse accents.”

The startup’s innovative engine delivers results in under 300 milliseconds, making it a vital tool for companies that require instant, high-quality transcription and audio insights.

Sergey Tokarev emphasized the significance of this investment: “My team and I have used transcription services for years, but they often fail with non-English languages and accents. Gladia’s technology resolves these issues, moving the entire industry forward.”

Gladia distinguishes itself from competitors like Otter.ai and Fireflies.ai with unique features, including the ability to switch between languages mid-conversation while maintaining accuracy. “This code-switching capability, combined with real-time adaptation to strong accents, makes Gladia an invaluable tool for global businesses,” noted co-founder Jean-Louis Quéguiner.

The platform does not stop at transcription. It can also extract key details from conversations, such as caller sentiment and critical insights, in real time. This allows companies to create comprehensive conversation summaries and leverage data to improve operations and customer interactions.

Gladia already serves over 600 companies, including notable names like Circleback and Method Financial, with more than 70,000 users on its platform. Call centers using Gladia report a 30% improvement in efficiency due to the platform’s accurate and fast transcription.

The $16 million investment will allow Gladia to expand its team, refine its technology, and scale internationally. The company is also developing a suite of advanced AI tools, incorporating large language models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). Additionally, the French startup aims to position its platform as a call center-as-a-service (CCaaS) solution to help automate customer support and improve agent performance.

According to CTO Jonathan Soto, “Our single API integrates seamlessly with all major systems, including SIP, VoIP, and Asterisk. This compatibility allows businesses to embed real-time transcription and analytics directly into their workflows, enhancing efficiency and customer service.”
