Jyoti Amge is 62.8 centimetres (24.7 inches) tall, but she has never allowed a measurement to define the scale of her ambitions. The Indian actress holds the Guinness World Records titles for shortest living woman and shortest actress.

A record confirmed at 18

Born in Nagpur on 16 December 1993, Amge has achondroplasia, a genetic condition affecting bone growth. Guinness measured her at Wockhardt Superspeciality Hospital on her eighteenth birthday in 2011, taking readings at different times to account for natural daily height variation.

She had already been recognized as the shortest living female teenager. Becoming an adult made her eligible for the women’s title.

Acting beyond expectations

Amge pursued the career she had talked about as a teenager. She appeared on Indian television and played Ma Petite in American Horror Story: Freak Show, becoming recognized as the shortest actress.

Her message has been direct: people of short stature should not be underestimated. Travel, acting and public appearances turned the record into a platform rather than a limitation.

The geek lesson

Amge’s achievement is not simply being measured. It is the way she used worldwide attention to build a creative career on her own terms. Her confidence challenges the habit of confusing physical scale with personal capability.
