Eddie Hall Broke the 500 kg Barrier and Became the Beast
Eddie Hall became the first person to deadlift 500 kg in 2016, then won World’s Strongest Man in 2017.

When Eddie Hall pulled 500 kilograms from the floor in 2016, the number looked almost fictional.

The lift that changed strength sport
At the 2016 World Deadlift Championships in Leeds, Hall became the first person to complete a 500 kg strongman deadlift. The attempt demanded enormous physical output and left him visibly exhausted.
The milestone remains listed by Guinness in the strongman deadlift category, even as later performances have advanced other deadlift records.
Building toward one number
Hall’s path included swimming, heavy manual training and years on Britain’s strongman circuit. He developed static power while learning the wide event range needed for full contests.
Winning the complete contest
In 2017, Hall won World’s Strongest Man. That victory mattered because a deadlift specialist still had to survive loading races, carries, overhead events and stones.
Life after the title
Hall retired from elite strongman and moved into media, boxing and public challenges. His career demonstrates the strange power of a round number: 500 kg became a boundary athletes and audiences could instantly understand.
