The idea for Creator Camp began in 2019. It was inspired by Kai Forman’s experience studying animation and digital media at the Queensland University of Technology in Australia.

“I realized courses weren’t engaging enough, and if children were introduced to these subjects early, it could transform how they interact with technology,”

Kai said.

He joined forces with high school friends Cazden Morrison, Jacky Chao, and others to launch their first camp in Texas.

Their first year was a modest start. They hosted one camp and generated $60,000 in revenue. By their second year, they doubled locations and reached $100,000 in earnings.

In their third year, Creator Camp grew exponentially, earning $300,000 in revenue with multiple locations. By 2023, they hosted 1,300 campers across 11 locations in Texas, culminating in $840,000 in revenue.

“We received overwhelming feedback from parents, which pushed us to expand quickly,” the founders shared. Safety and creativity are at the core of Creator Camp.

Children are encouraged to engage with their passions while maintaining online privacy. “Devices are parent-controlled, and campers don’t use their real names online, ensuring a secure experience,” they explained.

On Shark Tank, the founders requested $350,000 for 5% equity, valuing Creator Camp at $7 million. They described their mission to transform kids’ screen time into a productive learning journey.

Barbara Corcoran, however, saw potential and offered $350,000 for 20% equity, contingent on franchising. After negotiations, the deal closed at 18% equity. Barbara emphasized, “Franchising is key to scaling this business.”
