What is Catch’N’Release

The catch and release anchor Retrieval System has the potential to put an end to trapped anchors once and for all. Does it seem too best to be true? It’s not the case.

Margaret and Peter Powell, a Cairns couple, came up with the concept after getting into problems on the reef. Margaret was almost thrown overboard when a jammed anchor broke the bowsprit.

Knowing that anchors were notorious for causing injuries and coral damage, they soon saw an issue they could solve. By removing the need for plastic zip ties on anchors, the simple, super-durable technique also helps to reduce plastic pollution in the water.

An Australian-made anchor retrieval system called Catch’n’Release is here to help you get your anchor back, protect the reef, and have a safer and more fun day on the water.

It can see fishers squinting at the screen, wondering what kind of expensive gear it takes to work. But that’s the beauty. But Peter and Margaret haven’t discovered an anchor yet. So no expensive gear, just sailing!

It’s also 316 marine-grade stainless steel with a 3.6-ton breaking strength. This means you can take it out on your current boat or in your luxury rig if you win the lottery.

So now what? Simple. After hitting the Catch’N’Release mechanism, pull the sleeve out the same way it went in.

“One person stated he’d have to have it surgically removed before giving it up,” inventor Margaret Powell chuckles. “Some stated they couldn’t live without it,”

Founder of Catch’N’Release

Peter and Margaret Powell persuaded fellow ‘boatie’ and Shark Tank’shark’ Glen Richards to join them on their entrepreneurial trip. Also, Peter and Margaret have been married for 30 years and spent 17 of them working on Catch N Release, a revolutionary tool intended to draw out jammed boat anchors.

Not just fishers are seizing on this fantastic concept. When the product was on Shark Tank Australia, Dr. Glen Richards endorsed it.

She requested a $200,000 investment for 20% of the company from the five sharks that either support or “maul” businesses and innovators eager to take their ideas to the next level.

Boost Juice inventor Janine Allis, RedBalloon founder Naomi Simson, and investor Andrew Banks were all interested until they learned their patent only had three years left.

All the sharks save Richards, a North Queensland boating enthusiast, withdraw, and he gives Peter and Margaret $200,000 for the entire firm, allowing them to restart their retirement
