From incredible attractions to stunning views and great nightlife; either side won’t bore you. 

It is recommended that you do your research before deciding where to get situated. Research about the things that you can do on either side, and then make a pick that suits your interests the most. Once you get situated, you can move ahead to make your accommodation bookings etc. 

Tip 2: Communication:

Majority of people in Hong Kong speak Cantonese and mandarin. However, some people do speak English as well. If you are a native English speaker, communication won’t be much trouble in Hong Kong. But if you are not, it is best to have a translation app installed in your phone. It will help you communicate with people effectively. 

Tip 3: Pick an Octopus Card:

If you want to get access to the MTR system, then picking up your octopus card is important. It is best for people who have to stay for at least more than a day in Hong Kong. And if you have planned a 5 day or a 7 day trip; you must have this card with you. It saves you the taxi cash and makes it easier and quicker to get around the city at ease. 

Octopus card is similar to a prepaid card. You just have to tap the card at the MTR entrance, instead of paying each time for a ride. The system automatically cuts down your ride expense and you are on your way to your destination. This card makes travel to Hong Kong smooth and quick and it can be used in coffee shops, theaters and supermarkets as well. 

Tip 4: Hong Kong Taxi Card App:

Hong Kong is extremely advanced but a trouble that many face while exploring it, is that the taxi drivers might not know the tiniest bit of english. Thus, it becomes super hard to communicate to them about where you want to go. This is where Hong Kong taxi card apps come into help you. They translate everything into the native Hong Kong language, making it easier for the drivers to communicate. 

You can also get an Uber in Hong Kong but it is quite expensive and can be a burden on your overall travel budget. And when you can travel comfortably, in an affordable manner; why overspend? 

Tip 5: Don’t miss the Skyline Views:

While in Hong Kong, do not miss the skyline views. The Ozone Bar at the Kowloon side of Hong Kong is worth a visit. You can also head out to Victoria Peak to explore the heights and views. It is best to check the weather forecast before visiting the skyline views because it can be obscured by fog or rain. And you certainly do not want to travel for long to not enjoy the views fully. 

Tip 6: Get Comfortable Shoes: 

As a first time traveler, you might not know that it is quite hilly. You can definitely travel through the MTR system or taxi but walking around the hills requires comfortable shoes. Avoid wearing sandals as it can be the most uncomfortable experience for your feet. Either opt for sneakers or shoes with nice fitting straps that hold your foot together perfectly. 

Tip 7: Unpredictable Weather:

The weather in Hong Kong is quite unpredictable; thus be prepared. This place is known for its subtropical, humid climate. Although it hardly snows in Hong Kong, rain is quite common. While packing, it is best to keep a small umbrella along with you. You can keep it along in your bag to stay safe, in case a storm shows up. 

Tip 8: Try out the Famous Dim Sum:

Your trip to Hong Kong is incomplete without eating Dim Sum. It is Hong Kong’s traditional dish and it is extremely good. It will leave your taste buds craving for more. Dim Sum is served in small plates that come along in bamboo steamers and is served along with tea. Before you leave Hong Kong, you must have this experience. You are definitely going to love it.
