The Priory Kitchen Nightmares Update: Closed, Site Converted
The Priory from Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares is closed. Follow the reported closure and primary evidence of the Haywards Heath site’s residential conversion.

The Priory restaurant featured in Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares is closed. Follow-up TV reporting places its closure in 2008. The former Priory site in Haywards Heath subsequently became residential accommodation, with developer and estate-agent records documenting the change.
Which Priory appeared on Kitchen Nightmares?
Apple TV’s episode listing identifies The Priory as series 5, episode 5 of Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares. Its description places the 100-seat carvery in a former convent in Haywards Heath, Sussex, and names its owner as Scott, a former IT consultant. The episode dates to 2007.
Owner Scott Aitchison also published a first-person account of the intervention in November 2007.

What happened after Gordon Ramsay’s visit?
Reality TV Revisited reports that The Priory closed in 2008 and was followed by a tapas restaurant, La Capilla, which also later closed. This is secondary reporting, rather than a closure notice from the former operator. We have not verified an exact final trading date.
The available evidence does not establish a single reason for the closure. The programme’s restaurant problems should not be treated as proof that one decision, or Gordon Ramsay’s involvement, caused the business to fail.
What is at the former Priory site now?
Klifer Developments’ project list records a 43-flat first phase at The Priory in Haywards Heath and a separate 11-flat chapel conversion. These are distinct phases of the wider property, rather than proof that the restaurant itself contained 43 flats.
A PSPHomes listing for 43 The Priory, Syresham Gardens describes an apartment in the converted former nunnery. This provides direct property evidence of the later residential use; old restaurant reviews and map entries are not evidence that The Priory is still trading.
