Writers did a strike in the second season. Then it shortened to 15 episodes. With time, the series suffered low ratings. Then producers tend to cancel the series. Then the NBC network had a deal with DirecTV to co-produce three more seasons. Each season premiered on DirecTV’s 101 Network. The last episode of season 5 aired on 9th February 2011. After a few months, NBC Network rebroadcasts all those episodes.

Friday Night Lights won three AFI awards, An Emmy Award, and a Peabody Award for Outstanding Drama Series. It won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Directing. Also, it received nominations from the Writers Guild of America. The executive producer Jason Katims won two Humanitas Prize awards for writing. In 2011, Kyle Chandler earned the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama series.

Where was Friday Night Lights TV show filmed?

Austin and Pflugerville are the locations mainly used to film the Friday Night Lights. It uses actual locations rather than stage sets and sound stages. Those factors provide the tv show with an authentic feel and look. Producers have used documentary-type filming techniques to shoot each episode.

Texas uses another location for the filming activities. Temple University uses as the location for one scene in June 2010. The Boston area is also used for the shooting of an episode. The Boston College, Boston University, and Tufts University are the locations used for that episode. They use Gregory Gym at The University of Texas at Austin to film some more scenes.
