For decades, when Hollywood wrote a beloved work of fiction for the screen, viewers repeated the same sentence: “To read the book is indeed better than watching a movie.”

In response to one mediocre display version after another, the line had become a critical reflection. Hollywood fell into the same trap from an ancient adaptation such as the Total Recall to newer ones such as I am Legend, The Hitchhiker’s Galaxy Guide, or The Golden Compass. Such a place was cut down to save funds, characters were cut down to shave time, and emotionally the subject matter was often misinterpreted.

So in the last decade, what has changed? When were books the basis of popular films and TV? What does that mean besides Hollywood’s future as well as for authors and publishers? We will get the answer to all these questions in the article.

Beginning of the “Book-to-Movie” Decade:

Numerous books for film adaptations have been full over the past decade, bringing a lot of excitement to readers and viewers. It is almost unbreakable for the public to introduce a novel or a collection of short stories onto the silver screen—perfect castings, stunning needs to set, and captivating performances enable the viewers to absorb themselves in a completely different way, offering them a different experience.

How did the Trend Go?

For the readers and other book lovers, the trend did not work well. Though some of them found it helpful to watch a movie based on the same storyline they wanted to read, spending hours. This helped them save their time ensuring their leisure at the same time. The public enjoyed the trend and this is the reason why it is still being followed and being loved by both – readers and viewers. The only thing that matters is the fact that the story is being displayed on the screen. The creators are judged on the basis of their minute detailing in the story such that they do not miss bringing even a single dialogue on the screen.

Book-to-Film Adaptation: Good for both the Industries:

In a cluttered television scene, novels provide a wider range. Shows like Game of the Thrones or The Man in the High Castle have brought different forms of television stories. Continuing to work with a wider range of literary stories, creators have differentiated themselves from a growing field of prestigious TV options, and have looked for specific areas of a fragmented viewing audience.

The adaptation has not only benefitted the movie industry but also the book industry. The adaptation of a book to a film ensures the longevity of the book by popularizing the book or novel. As the season of TV is fairly easy and more attractive for viewers to ingest at their comfort, novelists and writers attain a wider canvas. The days of discreet episodes with such a range of lengths, often squeezing, have been substituted by episodes for discrete 30 or 40 minutes.

Some of the Best “Book-to-Movie” Creations:

Seven of the ten most famous IMDB films are independent releases. Of course, they are extremely successful films, because they’re not as large as those movie franchises that received universal reach.

Apart from these movies, there have been more which have been released in series or different parts like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Hobbit, and Alice in Wonderland. These movie series, due to their high popularity have made the most money worldwide and have attained a rating of 10 on the box office. You can check out the full list on Betway Insider.
