Kratom comes from an evergreen tree that is in the coffee family and is also known as – Mitragyna Speciosa. Originally, it’s grown in Southeast Asia and comes in a variety of strains. If we want to name just a few, there are Borneo kratom, Bali kratom, Maeng da kratom, Thai kratom, and many more.

From particular brands, more frequent kratom users opt for the golden monk kratom, the Red Bali kratom, or the red Borneo kratom. When it comes to the plant itself, it can grow to 30 feet in height and widen to 15 feet in diameter. A very luxurious plant, to say the least.

In Thailand and other parts of Asia, kratom has a long history of medical use. Today, a vast number of people use kratom powder and capsules as natural remedies. Kratom powder is nothing else than pure kratom leaves later cut into tiny pieces and then made into a powder.

Globally, it’s now gaining popularity in serving as a natural alternative for pain relievers and stress alleviating pills. In the remainder of the text, we will focus on why kratom is better than all other synthetic muscle relaxers.

Moreover, we’ll focus on why people who indulge themselves in martial arts use kratom powder and capsules as a natural remedy for pain. There will also be words on what makes a particular strain of kratom better than the other.

What makes a particular kratom powder the best

The potency of different brands of kratom can vary, depending solely on the nature of the leaves. If we were to name “the best possible kratom out there” or the best kratom products, it would be the one that comes from the most effective leaves.

Read the labels always before you start using kratom, and note that the tag “steep” on it means that it is more effective. If you are to pick a particular kratom powder, bear in mind that people usually use it to induce relaxation or give themselves a sort of a “head start” for the day.

Good kratom strains are, in fact, effective in managing pain, but none of the kratom strains are intended for preventing, curing, or treating any particular disease. It effectively alleviates anxiety and depression, also depending on the potency of the leaves, but not their definite stopper.

Kratom with martial arts and workout

As kratom does have psychotropic properties, it has been used from earlier times as an alternative to chemically induced medicines since it’s purely natural in its essence. What do we mean by this, and what does the plant contain that works this way?

Namely, numerous alkaloids in the plant have potential medicinal properties and can help alleviate pain, depression, anxiety, high blood pressure, and even opium withdrawal. To our knowledge, there hasn’t been an overdose of kratom reported yet.

These qualities of the plant make it a perfect, natural, and safe alternative to all the harmful medicines that cause numerous side effects. It is an opioid and a pain killer, which is its essential role in martial arts.

Working out while using this opioid will allow you to push yourself harder and even enhance your cardio and muscular output. Especially when it comes to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, where there is grappling and striking, kratom can work as a pain-killer for all these punches.

Note, however, that it is a mild painkiller rather than being suitable for serious injuries that need medical assistance.

How kratom helps MMA fighters alleviate pain

MMA, or in other words, Mixed Martial Arts, differs from boxing in that boxing allows punches only above the belt, whereas in MMA, anything goes. You can kick, punch, wrestle your opponent, and deploy many other fighting skills.

Sometimes, this can lead to CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) which involves poor concentration, memory impairments, behavioral disorders, and even mood swings. This is where kratom plays a crucial role.

How does kratom help here, then? Kratom contains 7-hydroxy-mitragynine and mitragynine, which are active compounds of the plant that bind to the receptors you have in the brain, producing alleviating effects for pain as a result.

Synthetic opioids also bind to these same receptors, but they can produce dependency and mind-altering effects. Kratom is partially an opioid, and there is no risk for dependence and addiction.

Other than alleviating pain for MMA fighters, it can also improve their cognitive ability, low energy levels, reduced concentration, poor cognitive ability, and even their sleep quality.

The Wrap Up

Now that you have been introduced to kratom more closely and its positive effects on cognitive abilities, mood, and pain reduction, you may understand why it is crucial for those who practice martial arts. As a natural remedy, it is an excellent alternative to all other synthetic drugs.

The benefits of kratom are numerous but always bear in mind that it is a mild opioid and not intended for treating severe pain. For those punches in martial arts, though, it’s undoubtedly a helping hand.
