I’m having trouble saving my Ring doorbell videos without a subscription. I already paid for the device, and it feels unfair to have to pay more just to save my videos. Has anyone found an effective and reliable method to save videos without paying for a subscription?

Ugh, it’s such a rip-off that they make you pay extra for something so basic. Any hacks to get around this? 😒

You can try screen recording the videos on your phone. Just play the video in the Ring app and use the built-in screen recording feature on your device. It’s not perfect, but it works.

Screen recording can be a good workaround. I’ve used it a few times, and it saves the videos directly to your phone’s gallery.

Does Ring offer any free trials or other options that might help temporarily?

Yes, there’s a 30-day free trial when you first set up your Ring device. It gives you full access to all features, including video saving and sharing. Use that time to save important videos.

Another method is to use local storage. You can download videos to your computer from the Ring website by going to the History section and saving the files you need.

Local storage works well, but it’s a bit more manual. It’s a good backup plan though.

Why not consider switching to a different brand? Some alternatives like Eufy offer local storage options without a subscription.

Eufy and SkyBell are good alternatives if you’re looking to avoid subscription fees altogether. They offer similar features and might be worth checking out.

Just pay the $3 a month. It’s not that expensive for the convenience.

Why pay if you don’t have to? There are workarounds, even if they’re a bit more effort. 😂

It’s also worth noting that Ring’s subscription plans offer more than just video saving. Features like customizable motion zones and extended warranties can be beneficial.

True, but if you’re just looking to save videos, those extras might not justify the cost.

Are there any specific screen recording apps recommended for this purpose?

Most devices have built-in screen recording capabilities. For Android, swipe down to access the control center, and for iOS, swipe up or down (depending on your model) to find the screen recording option. No need for additional apps.

Is it really worth the hassle to keep recording your screen every time?

It can be a bit tedious, but if you’re saving only occasional videos, it’s manageable

Ultimately, it’s about weighing the cost versus convenience. If you save a lot of videos, the subscription might be worth it. For occasional use, these methods work fine.
