Five Must-Play Video Games Coming in 2023

Last year was an excellent year for video games. While the number of new Triple-A titles was on the low side, some of the titles released were quite incredible. FromSoftware’s Elden Ring rightly cleaned up at various gaming awards. At the same time, there were accolades for Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarok, and the incredible indy game Stray.

The current year is shaping up to be a blockbuster 12 months for gamers. Studios are back in the workplace after the various COVID-19-related closures and restrictions. Those developers are beginning to learn how to harness the power and get the best out of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The following five titles are coming in 2023, and gamers worldwide are tingling with excitement for their release.

Dead Space

The original Dead Space launched in October 2008 when the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 were the consoles. After an initially slow start, Dead Space sold over one million copies globally, all while building a cult following that loved the atmospheric horror setting. A remake of Dead Space is set to hit the shelves on January 27 and is a hot favorite with industry experts and the leading online BetOnline sportsbook, one of the most popular sites with online sportsbook reviews sites, to win the coveted Game of the Year title. Even if it does not win that award, the original game’s legion of fans will ensure the Dead Space remake is one of the best-selling games of 2023.

Electronic Arts have rebuilt the original game from the ground up, improving the visual with more details graphics and adding more immersion with ray-tracing lighting effects. They have also given the game’s protagonist, Isaac Clarke, a voice; he was previously the strong silent type. Dead Space is for you if you love terrifying survival-horror-action games.

Hogwarts Legacy

Every geek loves Harry Potter, so imagine the excitement building around the February 10 release of Hogwarts Legacy. Avalanche Software has created what should be an epic action role-playing title in the Wizarding World. Although Harry Potter and the usual cast of wizards are not present in Hogwarts Legacy, you get to interact with the likes of Nearly Headless Nick, Peeves, and The Fat Lady.

PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and Windows users get to play Hogwarts Legacy on February 10, with a PS4 and Xbox One version coming out on April 4. Nintendo Switch users must wait until July 25 for their port.

Diablo 4

Fans of the hack-and-slash action role-playing Diablo series are in for a treat with Blizzard releasing Diablo IV. Its predecessor, Diablo III, was the best-selling PC game of 2012, having sold over 12 million copies. Diablo III enjoyed a revamp in August 2014 with the Reaper of Souls DLC launch, which also saw the game hit the PS4 and Xbox One consoles.

Scheduled for release on June 6, Diablo IV continues with the series’ core mechanics of gradually obtaining stronger equipment by defeating increasingly difficult enemies. The game is played using a third-person top-down perspective, although Blizzard revealed it has worked extensively in creating 3D characters and stunning environments. We cannot wait to crawl through some awesome-looking dungeons.

Star Wars: Jedi Survivor

Are you really a geek if you have not run around your house with a roll of wrapping paper pretending it is a lightsaber? You may even own a lightsaber. Regardless, Star Wars: Jedi Survivor is the latest addition to the Star War gaming franchise, or it will be on March 17 when Respawn Entertainment’s title launches.

Following on from Star Wars: Fallen Order, players take control of Jedi Knight Cal Kestis, one of the few surviving Jedi after Order 66. Fallen order was a great if flawed game so here’s hoping Respawn learned from its mistakes and has created a worthy addition to the Star Wars world.

Silent Hill 2 Remake

The remake of the epic Silent Hill 2 survival-horror game does not have a release date, but a remake of the 2001 blockbuster has been confirmed. Hopefully, it makes it into the wild in 2023 because Silent Hill 2 is the game that deserves a remake if any title does.

The original Silent Hill 2 is considered one of the greatest horror games ever made and is ranked highly among the best video games of all time. Many people reading these pages will never have enjoyed playing Silent Hill 2. Here’s hoping they get the chance this year.
