It has been a great year for cinema so far, but there are still many fantastic films to come particularly in the sci-fi genre. Sci-fi films always excite audiences as they allow us to use our imagination and visualise what life might look like in the future and this can look incredible on the big screen. Don’t Worry Darling
Don’t Worry Darling has been constantly in the showbiz news recently due to reported issues behind the camera, which has only added to the hype. The film follows a housewife in the 1950s living in a utopian experimental community, but all is not what it seems as she starts to question what she is doing there. The film stars Olivia Wilde (who also directed), Florence Pugh, Harry Styles and Chris Pine.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
The next Marvel film for release is Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which is the 30th in the MCU and the direct sequel to 2018’s Black Panther. It picks up from the events of Avengers: Endgame with many of the cast from the 2018 film returning. Complications arose following the death of Chadwick Boseman in 2020 and they decided not to recast his role of T’Challa and instead have the nation of Wakanda fighting to protect their nation following T’Challa’s death. The Marvel Universe remains hugely popular with film lovers and funko pop vinyl figures are a great gift idea for fans of the MCU.
Avatar: The Way of Water
The sequel to the immensity popular Avatar looks like it could be worth the wait with James Cameron returning as director and Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana reprising their roles. The couple has now started a family in Pandora but there is an ancient threat that forces them out of their homes and into war with the humans.
Distant
Distant is a highly anticipated sci-fi film involving an asteroid miner that crashes on an alien planet and must survive struggling against harsh terrain, a lack of oxygen and being hunted by stranger creatures. The film stars Naomi Scott and Anthony Ramos.
Black Adam
Black Adam is the next addition to the DC Extended Universe and stars The Rock as the titular anti-hero who is seeking revenge on the world after being imprisoned for 5,000 years. Black Adam will be challenged by those that form the Justice Society; Hawkman, Dr Fate, Atom Smasher and Cyclone.
