Since Netflix and Amazon Prime showed up in our lives, fewer and fewer people are interested in going out to watch their favorite movies. Planning a movie night is fun, whether it’s with your family, friends, or soulmate. For most people choosing a movie is a hectic task. If you are a geek and a movie junkie, multiply that by 1000. But for us picking the right snack has been an issue. Sweet? Savory? Or just a combo meal? This is probably one of the most complex phases that foodies go through. By experience and love for food, we have made a list of some of the most popular snacks to munch on movie night:

  • Vegetable oil spray
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 24 oz. condensed milk, sweetened
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, small cubes
  • 4 tablespoons bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt, flaky
  • Cooking thermometer

  • Coat a square 8-inch pan with cooking spray and baking paper.
  • Cook sugar, corn syrup with ½ cup water on a medium-high flame and keep stirring until the sugar is dissolved completely. You can cook until the mixture turns into an amber color. This typically takes around 15 minutes.
  • Remove the pan from the heat while whisking and add condensed milk and butter cubes. This will cause the mixture to bubble vigorously.
  • At the same time, put your thermometer in your saucepan and keep it on heat until the mixture turns 240o.
  • Remove it from heat immediately and let it cool for a couple of minutes.
  • Mix bourbon in your caramel and sprinkle some sea salt on it.
  • Once the mixture thickens, cut into small bars.
  • Caramel can be stored for 2 weeks in airtight jars at room temperature.
  • You can also add roasted and salted cashews to the mixture.
